You don't need an account to play. On your first visit, your browser generates a random anonymous ID and stores it on your device. It's a random number — it contains nothing about you.

Every vote is saved along with that anonymous ID and:

• which two players you saw and which one you picked
• how long you took to decide
• whether you expanded a player's stats before voting
• which side of the screen each player was on
• a per-visit session ID and the vote's position in your session
• each player's rating at the time of the vote
• device type (mobile or desktop) and the site that linked you here
• your country — country only, nothing more precise
• matchups that were shown but never voted on

All of this exists to make the ratings and future features (like per-fan stats) work. None of it identifies you.

• No IP addresses are stored
• No device fingerprinting
• No ads and no third-party ad trackers
• No selling or sharing of data with anyone

You can optionally sign in with a magic link to keep your vote history across devices. That stores your email address and links your votes to your account. Your email is used only to send the sign-in link — no newsletters, no marketing, never shared.

The site runs on Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database and sign-in emails). Like any website, their servers briefly see your IP address to deliver the page — but BallOrNot never stores it.

The anonymous ID lives in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data gives you a fresh one; the old votes stay in the database but can no longer be connected to your device.

• Play without signing in — that's the default.
• Clear browser data to reset your anonymous ID at any time.
• Email admin@ballornot.com to delete your signed-in account and its data.

• BallOrNot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NBA, any team, or any player. Player names and statistics are factual public information.
• Photos are official NBA headshots or freely licensed images — see photo credits.
• The site is free and provided as-is, with no guarantees. It may change, break, or shut down at any time.
• Don't abuse it — no scripted voting, scraping, or attempts to rig the ratings. Repeat votes on the same matchup don't count toward global ratings anyway.
• Changes to this page will be posted here with a new date.
